Former national security advisor Brajesh Chandra Mishra passed away on Friday(28-Sept-2012) evening in a Delhi hospital.
Note: He was also principal secretary to the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee
2. Nitin Gadkari Gets second term as BJP President
BJP's National Council meeting on Friday(28-Sept-2012) cleared the decks for a second consecutive term to Nitin Gadkari as party president after it gave a nod to the amendment in the party constitution.
Note: The amendment to Section 21 of the Bharatiya Janata Party's constitution says that any eligible member can hold the post of the president for two consecutive terms of three years each.
3. Telecom ministry waives off spectrum fee for Community Radio Services
The telecom ministry said on Friday(28-Sept-2012) that it would waive off spectrum free for community radio services (CRS) in the interest of 'inclusive and informed society' and after considering representations from within the government.
The government decision follows requests from National Advisory Council, ministry of information and broadcasting and the community radio association.
4. Nirmal Verma appointed as Indian envoy to Canada
Former Navy Chief Nirmal Verma, appointed as India’s High commissioner to Canada. His appointment to the post happened on the recommendation of the PMO to the president, who cleared his name for the vacancy.
5.Indian Air Force(IAF) Honours Saina Nehwal in Hyderabad
Indian Air Force honoured India’s Ace Shuttler Saina Nehwal in Hyderabad. She flew a Surya Kiran Trainer Jet as part of her felicitation held at the Dundigal Air Force Academy. She is the 3rd sportsperson after cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Mahendra Singh Dhoni who have been accorded the honour of flying Kiran MK II aircraft used to train pilots as a co-pilot.
